Arena Center in Zagreb
Arena Center, one of the largest shopping malls in Croatia, situated in the capital city Zagreb near the Arena Zagreb, a multi-purpose indoor arena, with which it makes one of the largest shopping-entertainment centers in the city. It features modern architecture, a cosmopolitan ambiance, and is surrounded by a park with playful shapes of benches, sculptures of modern art, decorative hills, and playground fields. A specific green concept of this 4th generation shopping and entertainment center make this Centar the 1st shopping mall in Croatia that received the “GREEN MARK – SIGN OF EXCELLENCE”.
Our engagement on this project included a complete exterior light design including architectural facade light design, exterior light design of the park area, as well as light design of roads and parking lots. Various exterior areas were treated differently, creating various atmospheres for people passing through the park. With attractive curved shapes of poles with glowing yellowish light fixtures, the area for children is highlighted during the evening, when the center is full of families with children playing in this area. With landscape lighting, colorfully lit fountain, decorative white light under the benches in the shape of a flower, and accents of light on the children playground, a park become alive and appealing during the evening, which was one of the main tasks of this project. On the main entrance, a multifunctional square is lit with very high poles allowing various lighting scenes in order to be able to adjust this area for various types of cultural events, including concerts.
Light design process included a high quality 3D light simulations, incorporating real characteristics of all light fixtures used in the project.
According to a recent study conducted by GfK Croatia – Market Research Center, Arena Centar is the favourite shopping spot for 65% of the Croatian capital’s residents. After opening in 2010, Arena Shopping Center was expanded in 2019 with additional buildings and parking areas.
