Bridge Dr. Franjo Tudjman in Dubrovnik
Croatian company “Hrvatske ceste” (operator of the Croatian state roads) agreed with The City of Dubrovnik to make this bridge more appealing during night, by ordering a an architectural light design project.
The Light design project made by Nova-lux started with creating a light design concept that will accentuate the structure of the bridge, which is very specific due to one A-shaped pylon design. The pylon 141.5 m tall (measured from the top surface of the foundations) supports the bridge structure on the cable-stayed portion of the bridge. The pylon is lit from two levels, creating a powerful visual effect while approaching and passing over the bridge. Angled cable stays are individually lit with powerful light fixtures with a narrow light beam aimed towards the top of the pylon. The horizontal structure of the bridge, 518 metres long measured between the abutments, is accentuated with dynamic RGB line of light, and it is not visible to drivers on the bridge in order for drivers not to be distructed. The structure under the deck (overall span of the girder is 325 m,) is lit only slightly, in order to create a 3D effect of the bridge. Various lighting scenes are defined also by light designers and engineers in Nova-lux company, some of them can be seen on 3D visualizations.
The implementation of this project is in the tender phase.
